                  Parking aid control unit -J446-
The parking aid control unit -J446- is located under the dash panel
in the driver footwell.
          Removing and installing parking aid control unit -J446- , left-hand drive vehicle
Removing:
– Switch off ignition and all electrical consumers and remove
ignition key.
– Remove the convenience system central control unit -J393-
bracket.

Note
The driver side fuse holder must be removed due to the wiring
harness behind it. The wires can be left connected to the driverside
fuse holder.
– Remove driver-side fuse holder.
– Remove the 3 securing bolts -1- and lower the gateway control
unit bracket -2- out downwards taking connected wiring length
into consideration.

– Remove the securing bolt -1- from the back of the bracket and
take off the parking aid control unit -J446- -2-.
– Release and disconnect all connectors.
Installing:
Install in the reverse order of removal. When doing this, note the
following:
– Tighten the bolts securing the gateway control unit to the body
to 3.5 Nm.
– Tighten the bolt securing the parking aid control unit -J446- to
the gateway control unit bracket to 1.5 Nm.

Removing and installing parking aid control unit -J446- , right-hand drive vehicle

Removing:
– Switch off ignition and all electrical consumers and remove ignition key.

Note
The driver side fuse holder must be removed due to the wiring
harness behind it. The wires can be left connected to the driverside
fuse holder.
– Remove driver-side fuse holder.

– Remove the convenience system central control unit -J393-
bracket.
– Unscrew 3 securing bolts -arrows- and lower control unit
bracket -1- downwards taking connected line lengths into consideration.

– Release and disconnect three connectors -2-.
– Unscrew securing bolt -arrow- and remove parking aid control
unit -J446- -1- from bracket -2-.
Installing:
Install in the reverse order of removal. When doing this, note the following:
– When installing, first push parking aid control unit -J446- into
mounting on bracket and then tighten it.
– Tighten bolt securing parking aid control unit -J446- to the
control unit bracket to 1.5 Nm.

Adaption of parking aid control unit – J446-
– Connecting vehicle diagnosis tester.
– Select „Guided fault finding“ in vehicle diagnosis tester .
– Using „GoTo“ button, select „Functions/component“ and then
the following menu options in succession:

♦ General body repairs
♦ 01 - On Board Diagnostic capable systems
♦ 10 - Parking aid control unit J446
♦ 10 - Functions of parking aid control unit
♦ 10 - Adaption (Rep. Gr. 94)
